The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department has an 11 ½ acre Firearms Training facility located on the property of Dulles International Airport. This outdoor facility is comprised of 3 ranges, a rappel tower and an obstacle course. The department has both full time and collateral duty assignments as Firearms Instructors. Firearms Instructors are certified through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. The range is operated year round to meet the needs of the department. Use of force and decision making, fundamentals of firearms, firearms safety and use of tactics are just some examples of training that is conducted at the Firearms Range.
