Security checkpoints at Reagan National are operated by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The checkpoints open each day at 4:30 a.m. The checkpoint closing times are dependent on the last flight's departure time.

Gates at Reagan National are grouped by gate number:

• Gates 1-9 - located beyond the Security Checkpoint in Terminal A, main level.  This is the same level where the ticket counters and baggage claim is located. 
• Gates 10-22 - located beyond the Security Checkpoint at the south end of Terminal B, Concourse level. This is one level down from the Departures (ticketing) level. 
• Gates 23-34 - located beyond the Security Checkpoint at the center of Terminal B/C, Concourse level. This is one level down from the Departures (ticketing) level. 
• Gates 35-45 - located beyond the Security Checkpoint at the north end of Terminal C, Concourse level. This is one level down from the Departures (ticketing) level.
